續領BNO的經驗和問題流程


最近因為香港的前途問題，續領已經失效了十三年的 BNO。其實個人也認為續領 BNO 的作用也不大，但本著少量付出但可能有大量回報的精神，所以決定 續領。

BNO 的好處

網上已經寫了很多，就寫下幾個對自己有用的好處：

  1. 去外地有問題可以找英國領事館幫忙。
  2. 有些地方特區護照沒有免簽，但 BNO 能夠免簽證（例如 吉爾吉斯 和 玻利維亞）。免簽證資料 看此。
  3. 可以開 Charles Schwab 外國版證券戶口，資金離岸並有 SIPC 監管，更可申請全球都能提款的 Debit Card（香港版不能申請 Debit Card）。
  4. 在外地使用 BNO ，至少在這遍排華潮中減少被別人歧視和留難的機會。
  5. 有很少的機率能夠 BNO 平權為 BC （PetItion 已達標）。

一千多元換取一本十年（還不是任何香港人也能申請）的護照，也算是可以了。

申請問與答

Q1: 有沒有教學？

網上已經有太多了。我主要看的是 這份 和 這份。

留意申請系統最近數個月有更新過，所以請看近期（2019年6月後）的網上教學比較好。

Q2: 交了多少文件？

我交了自己的出世紙、父母的結婚證書彩色影印本（正反兩面）、身份證彩色影印本（正反兩面）、舊有已過期的 BNO、還有特區護照的每一頁彩色影印本、公司發出的本人住址證明文件。還有副簽。

由於沒有父母的出生證明文件、我交了父母的身份證影印本。

另外，在網上聽說過副簽的作用是確保你是那個人，但我的副簽人也是手持 BNO（不是 BC），為了保險，我寄了幾張由這十多年內的證件相，加上幾年前已過期的 IELTS 證書（因為也有自己的樣子）來讓他們確定我是同一個人。但是個人認為這個只是作保險用，其實沒有實質用途。

另外，由於聽說寄到英國很容易寄失，所以除了可以隨時能補領（補領連結 按此）的出世紙外，其他重要文件（除了舊 BNO 外）也是彩色影印副本。

Q3: 花了多少時間？

這是我的申請紀錄，英文的是英國處理時的正式時間。

Q4: 申請期間有甚麼事要注意？

  • 網上 申請後需在 60 日內寄出所需文件到英國（地址會在申請後顯示，由於地址上有申請編號，所以每人的寄送也不同有點不同），申請成功後新的 BNO 和本身寄出的 Supporting Document 會分開兩份速遞收到。
  • 在網上申請時請準備好合規格的照片電子版，以及 Q5 裡的問題答案，因為有些問題並不是能夠立即能夠作答（例如祖父母的資料）
  • 網上申請後會得到一個申請編號（我的是 PEX 字頭），之後需要到 這裡 Download 副簽表格和知道要寄甚麼到英國，以後知道你的申請進度。
  • 副簽時一定要用 paper form，不能用 electronic form。
  • BNO 持有人應該可以副簽。
  • 我朋友用普通掛號比我的特快專遞更早完成申請（但他是由 BC 人副簽），所以可時能完成申請十分講求運氣。
